I Left My Heart in San Francisco

It's funny how one can live in the same state for several years without seeing the most beautiful and scenic parts and yet a tourists can visit for 2 weeks and they have seen more than I have in 23 years- How crazy is that?!

....With that said, I asked my hunny if we can take a drive up north to San Francisco as a graduation present and he agreed to it. Little did I know that San Francisco would be the city I left my heart in.

Ever heard of the song sung by Tony Bennett called,"San Francisco"? It's such a beautiful song; I encourage everyone who's reading this blog to listen to it just once. Please? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6d03gbmAzc&feature=related
The romantic melody itself explains perfectly what the city is all about... And I have pictures to prove it.

Lyrics:

" I left my heart in San Francisco

High on a hill,
it calls to me.

To be where little cable cars
Climb halfway to the stars!

The morning fog may chill the air
I don't care!

My love waits there in San Francisco

Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you,

San Francisco,

Your golden sun will shine for me! "

P.S.
I'll write another blog soon, but just so you know something very special and spectacular happened... I think you can guess correctly.... ::SMILE::

Graduation Day

It was May 23, 2010 and I was amongst the most awesome and most brilliant people in the world which created the most fondest memory for me. Graduation day was a moment to be proud of myself and my fellow classmates for all the late night studying, flashcards, tears of frustration, term papers and stress that every college student endures while in school.

It was a moment that even I had to take a step back, take a deep breath and take all in...

Wearing a cap and gown with a diploma in my hand was a bold statement of success;that one chapter in our life was complete to move on to the next. Some friends were continuing school to pursue their masters degree in Counseling/Psychology, another friend was weeks away from giving birth to her first born child, while others just wanted to take a break from school and live life for a while.

Another fond memory I have was looking into the stadium and gazing at all the signs and listening to families and friends scream out their graduate's name, and through the midst of it, I saw my boyfriend standing next to my two eldest brothers cheering me on with a huge smile on his face. He later called me prior to my name being called out to only say how proud he was of me. His voice was so sincere, caring and genuine that it made me realize that he's the only one I want to run to show off my achievements too...

Overall... Graduation Day definitely made me realize that we all have our own path in life. Each person will encounter something different and new as life goes on...

Happy 1st Birthday Sharpie

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear SHARPIE, Happy Birthday to YOU!

Happy Birthday Sharpie!

You are officially ONE year old. I still can't believe that it has already been one year since Rick and I adopted you. I still remember when you were a furry little kitten, always staying close by mommy/daddy and always chasing after the colorful furry play toys... We've had many adventures with you! I love your cute, yet, obnoxious cry!
Having you around makes me realize that I DEFINITELY do not want kids right now! haha j/k You alone are a handful! I remember all the Medical bills that Daddy had to pay to make you feel better! My life will never be the same without you! I love you Sharpie!

Happy 1st
Birthday

My First Date

It was the cutest and best date I've had in a while! The weather was just perfect to drive out to Long Beach, Ca and spend the day with my hunny.

Our first stop was a French restaurant called La Creperie Cafe`. The food was excellent and very affordable; I wasn't disappointed at all. I chose the Spinach Feast which is a savory crepe with scrambled eggs, fresh spinach, tomato, mushrooms, mozzarella, feta and ricotta cheese. It was sinful! We were sooo full that we weren't able to try what they're most famous for, which is their sweet crepes. I've heard good stories about those, so don't be afraid to try them out! ;) After our delicious meal we drove to E. Ocean Blvd. to Kayak Rentals and grabbed a tandem kayak for $8 per person/per hour- not bad! Kayaking around the bay and marina was probably the best way to spend a few hours on a beautiful day with your special someone. It was fun to admire the beautiful homes, yatchts and other sailors that I'll never have- haha only kidding. But.... considering this wasn't a Gondola ride, we made the best out of it. I couldn't stop singing Dean Martin's love song, "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore..." I'm sure my hunny wanted to throw me off the kayak, but the song was just too brilliant to do so... haha... It couldn't have been a better day for the beach.

And as the evening was drawing near, my hunny and I stopped by Downtown Long Beach and walked around the shoreline to have a couple of drinks. It was truly a great way to end the evening... I couldn't have had a better first date than this! Thank you babe! :)

He's back in my life and hopefully he'll stay for a very long time... I can't even write all the different feelings that I have deep inside. It's like I fell in love for the first time all over again; butterflies in my tummy, smiling non-stop and just excited to see how many memories we can create in moments time...

Watch out world- Rick and Priscilla are back!

Senioritis!

Reading? Writing? Homework? Studying? - NO WAY
It's now my 5th year and final semester and I'll be OFFICIALLY DONE with my bachelors degree in Human Services. I'm super excited for graduation this MAY! I have such a bad case of senioritis, I don't even think I've opened a book this entire semester; I've been going out every weekend having no worries or concerns about school; I'm 2 months away from graduating and I'm planning my Graduation trip. I'm just so excited to be excited!! haha

I recently took pictures with my graduation attire and it felt so good to wear my honor cords, gown, tassel and even have a diploma in my hands. What an accomplishment!

People say that one grows most in college and I definitely claim that to be true. College life is a great transition to adulthood. One learns most about themselves, what their likes and dislikes are. What their political views are or aren't. Finding themselves in relationships that can truly mean commitment. Learning about the struggles their parents had to endure financially. Learning the importance of saving and spending wisely. All is key and very important.

E-Harmony

Friend: "Hey Priscilla, since John and I broke up I'm seeing 3 guys already! I'm so excited."

Me: "What? Girl you are crazy! How did you find 3 men that fast?"

Friend: "I joined e-harmony. One is a firefighter, the second guy is a lawyer and the other just graduated from Berkly."

Ok, so if my girl-friend can find men like that on E-harmony then maybe there's hope for me. Yah I got suckered into it like that ::SNAP:: joined e-harmony for $60 (ugh.. more money being spent). Well I joined, and now I have so many men requesting me because apparently my profile 'matched' every TOM, DICK AND HARRY- Men, that I'm so not interested in.

My matches were: 1) I live with my mom... 2) I like to travel and eat...3) I play video games..
WTF!! Seriously, does my personality match up with these kind of guys?! If that's the case then I'm doomed! hahaha

Suprisingly though there was one man, ONE MAN, out of 300 guys who looked normal enough to maybe have a conversation with... This E-harmony business isn't for me, but being that I paid for it, I might as well have my laughs! ;)

Just thought I'd share... this won't be the last!

Taking a Walk...

Since I've been in the field of Human Services/Counseling I have always had the desire to help others in need. Two internships that I've had, I facilitated and directed groups in a therapeutic way. My heart was on my sleeve just ready to listen to everybody's story and allow myself to empathize with each individual. By asking questions and being curious allowed group members to open up and just let out all that was suppressed. It made me feel awesome that these individuals felt a sense of relief after sharing the things they did.

....A sense of relief is what I need.

The other day I took a lunch break from work and decided to take a walk instead of the usual eating out. It was a beautiful day anyway and I needed time alone. As I began walking around campus I started asking myself,"Have I been taking care of you?"and "Is there 'unfinished business' that I still have suppressed inside that's making me feel incomplete?" As I was walking I couldn't help but ponder that during this time I've been helping others I've been also neglecting myself. To be honest it's hard to look at yourself and see all these imperfections when the world sees you as someone else; it's the hardest thing to admit "I need help" when the world thinks your stable. Physically I'm a strong person, but mentally I'm so weak.

As these thoughts started penetrating through my mind I began to feel a little anxious. I like when I get a little anxiety though because I get things done. I began walking towards the Counseling and Psychological Center that's on the campus I work for and finally I walked-in. Finally I arrived to a place where I felt safe and secure to let all that was suppressed in me, spew out.

Walking the Red Road

Since I've entered the new year many people have been asking me," Priscilla, what's your new year resolution?" Honestly? Why make false promises to myself so I tell them, "I don't have any. It's difficult to maintain a goal the entire year when life is so unexpected and full of surprises."

What I do know is that this year I want to "Walk the Red Road." Walking the Red Road is a Native American saying that my college professor taught me years ago. When he explained the meaning to the class, I heard it, but I didn't absorb the true meaning. Now, with the experiences that I have endured I can truly embrace the meaning and appreciate it.

"To walk the Red Road is to know sacrifice, suffering. It is to understand humility. It is the ability to stand naked before the Creator in all things for your wrong doings, for your lack of strength, for your uncompassionate way, for your arrogance - because to walk the Red Road, you always know you can do better. And you know, when you do good things, it is through the Creator, and you are grateful...

To Walk the Red Road, you have less fear of being wrong, because you know that life is a journey, a continuous circle, a sacred Hoop. Mistakes will be made, and mistakes can be corrected - if you will be humble, for if you cannot be humble, you will never know when you have made a mistake. If you walk the Red Road, you know that every sorrow leads to a better understanding, every horror cannot be explained, but can offer growth....

To Walk the Red Road is to look for beauty in all things..."

Venting...

I have to vent a little bit... It's already been months since I last went to the gym. I occasionally run around the park and lift weights at home but that doesn't break a sweat outta me as if I were at the gym. Lately I've been having so much back pain, knee pain, and hip pain- I swear to you I feel like a Senior Citizen...

Man, I remember when the gym was my life; I ran 5 miles on the treadmill, lifted weights for an hour, attended my kickboxing classes and I felt so damn good afterwards. It was the greatest feeling to know that I was healthy and staying in shape.

In April I was diagnosed with diabetes. It killed me when I found out, because I'd exercise on a daily basis to prevent any health issues from occurring... Apparently I got hit with a disease that's most prevelant in my Dad's side of the family. One would think that after I found out about my diagnosis I'd be eager to exercise and more health conscious but, NOPE...

For those who read my previous blogs know about my past eating disorder which also lead to the compulsive exercising behavior. And now I'm feeling the effects from it.

I wish I could still maintain that drive and motivation to just drop everything and go to the gym as I used to.... I feel a little embarrassed and guilty for writing this when I could be using this time to go to the gym- maybe I still can. I'm just not as quick with all these aches in my body...

::sigh:: I just need to stop being so NEGATIVE and be like NIKE and just DO IT! ;)

Thanks for listening!

Holiday Spirit

The other day I went to PetSmart in Whittier, CA and found out that SANTA CLAUSE was going to be there to take pictures with owners and their pets for Christmas! I had to bring Sharpie because a few weeks ago I bought him the cutest little Santa collar (the one he's wearing in this photo). Unfortanutely I don't have the picture yet, so this one will have to do. :)

Oh and if you noticed the plain Christmas tree, you can thank Sharpie for that. Yes, he jumped on that tree, smashed the bulbs and broke all my pretty ornaments....bad-bad kitty. If I was Santa I'd put COAL in his stocking! haha
Not only did he break the ornaments, but I have a hunch that he's sneaking into his Christmas stocking that's stuffed full with toys!

Does anyone else have a pet like this?!? lol :)

Finals are officially OVER

Thank God Finals are over! I seriously feel like this cartoon character just wanting to run away from books, pens and everything! Don't get me wrong, I love what I'm going to school for, but sometimes you just need a break.

This semester a lot has happend. I can truly say that I learned a lot about my character. During this time I've been able to think a lot more about me and my future plans then ever before. When I was in my relationship I was constantly thinking of just the relationship. I know it wasn't healthy, but hey I learned from it and I know now that I need to have more of a balance with anything that comes my way.

My friends are applying to grad schools this semester and by seeing how stressed out they are I'm glad that I decided to take a year off. This year gives me time to raise my GPA, do more volunteer work, travel, have some fun, and do things for myself. Although I'm pleased with my decision, I commend all who directly go into grad school right after there bachelors.

I'm just so relieved that it's over for this semseter. Good luck to anyone else taking finals! :)

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

The month of December has always been my favorite time of the year. Don't you notice that in December everyone is more nice to you than any other season? All the store clerks are just wearing their holiday smiles and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. That's what this season is about anyway... No one wants to come across a Mr. Scrooge.

I don't know if you remember watching the classic Mickey's Christmas Carol, but I just turned that on the other night with my grandparents and it was a pleasant suprise to remember watching this film when I was about oh 4-5 yrs old. It has a good moral to the story in my opinion.
This month has always been my time to give and give endlessly, but sadly this season I'm so broke and funds are limited... so something that I might do that I haven't done in a while is give my time to charities. I want to help feed the homeless, visit the orphanages, and give the kids some TLC (tender, love and care) during this Christmas season. I'm so excited to see how that plays out... I'll definitely keep you posted.

Elegant and Classy

Lana Turner

Veronica Lake

Marilyn Monroe

Judy Garland

Claudette Colbert

Rita Hayworth
Elizabeth Taylor

I'M JUST CURIOUS BUT...
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ACTRESS FROM THE 30's- 50's?

Take me out to the ball game....

So I'm sure anyone who is dating a huge baseball sports fan knows that they will not be getting any attention anytime soon! Sorry to break it to ya, but the games between Angels vs Yankees and Dodgers vs Phillies are pretty serious.

I'm not sure if anybody saw Saturday nights 13th inning game with Angels vs Yankees, but I'm sure they heard that it was one HELL of a game! It was back to back all the way to the end. I must admit there were some SERIOUS ERRORS by the Angels which caused them to lose, but I think because of their mess-ups they'll conquer tonight's game without a doubt! So I think you already know what team I'm rooting for, but these games are begining to excite me.

Now the Dodgers vs Phillies game that was on last night was RIDICULOUS! Did Dodgers forget that they were on the field or were those players actually the wives in Dodgers uniform?! The score was 11- 0 and let me tell you the Dodger's did not win. It was an embarrassment to baseball history! And as you can tell, I'm not a Dodgers fan whatsoever! So is their a little bias in my opinion heck yes there is!

Anyway ladies, if you don't like watching the sports try it one of these days. Try going as far as throwing a themed sports party buy lots beer, chicken wings, pizza and have a GREAT TIME supporting your guys team! Trust me, it's a turn on!! ;)

Rainy days...

Don't you just love the rain? Here in California there's mostly sunshine, so it's nice when the weather changes every now and then. What I love most is when it rains during the evening. The rain somehow makes the house more warm and cozy- don't you think?

I love having the house to myself on these kind of nights because then I could just relax in the livingroom with the lights dimmed low and snuggle with my pillow or cuddle in my blankets and turn on a good Disney movie.

I can be 101 yrs. old and I'll never be tired of them. Some of those movies have the most sweetest and heartfelt storylines then any movies out there today. Fox in the Hound is one of my favorites. But Peter Pan is a close second. I can watch them and all the rest over and over again and they will still bring a smile to me.

I'm just curious, but what is your favorite Disney movie that you like to watch? Everyone has to have at least one. ;)

My Cat, My Best Friend

Sharpie is not just any cat, he's my best friend. He may playfully attack my feet from under the bed, attack my hands when least expected, break glasses in the kitchen sink, stick his paws inside the fish tank, tear up the toilet paper from the bathroom, and sneak into the bag of treats (when no one notices), but without a doubt, he will be the first to bring a smile to your face. :)

Sharpie has such a wonderful, chipper, and playful spirit. As often as Rick and I wanted to just give him the boot, we wouldn't dare. He is just too irresistable. He runs down the stairs to greet me when coming home from school or work and meows to be held. Whenever it's time to fold clothes or make-up the bed, Sharpie will be the first to run underneath it all to find his way out. And if ever he wants to check the weather he'll open the blinds with his paw and just simply take a peak- he's awesome!I'm very thankful that Sharpie is apart of my life... He was a birthday present given to me over the summer by Rick. Considering he was a couples first pet, he was the greatest cat anyone could ever own. I love my Sharpie to pieces and I don't think any other cat could ever take his place.

Mother's To Be

As the winter draws near and nights become much cooler, it seems as though this winter weather has brought more couples closer together. I'm hearing more and more about mother's to be and I'm seeing more tummies grow as months pass by. Recently, a dear friend of mine shared with me that she's expecting and what a joy it was for me to hear her say those words. Of course sometimes pregnancies do take people by surprise, but bringing another life into the world is the greatest surprise and greatest gift that one could ever receive.

As I'm growing older I'm noticing more frequently that there is such an elegant presence to pregnant women; I'm just in awe with their stunning "motherly glow." All the women that I have met have this inner beauty that bursts and shines through their eyes- it actually makes me a little anxious to want and have a baby.
I can only imagine during that moment when that precious little bundle of joy is wrapped up in her arms and a
new kind of love will be unveiled and a special vow between mother and newborn will be made.
Here's a poem to all the mother's to be.

~*The Beauty of Women*~

The beauty of a woman
Is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries,
Or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman
Is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows,
And the beauty of a woman
With passing years-only grows....
